How can you use ChatGPT to prepare for a Nigerian bank…

GOSPELTRADER Research Desk · 5 November 2026 · 4 min read

Prepare for a Nigerian bank aptitude test with ChatGPT using practice questions, timed drills and an error log, without relying on leaked papers.

You can use ChatGPT to practise numerical reasoning, verbal reasoning and logical reasoning for a Nigerian bank aptitude test. Start with the instructions in your assessment invitation, ask for original practice questions and check the answers independently because AI can make mistakes.

1. Confirm your bank’s assessment format first

Do not assume every Nigerian bank uses the same recruitment test. Your assessment may vary by role, recruitment stage and testing provider, so use your invitation and official candidate guidance as your starting point.

Give ChatGPT a summary of the test instructions rather than uploading your full invitation. Remove your name, candidate number, login details and assessment links.

  • • Check the subjects, number of questions and time limit where these are provided.
  • • Confirm whether you may use a calculator, rough paper or other tools.
  • • Use official sample questions if they are available.
  • • Prompt: “I am preparing for a Nigerian bank aptitude test. The invitation lists numerical and verbal reasoning, with 40 questions in 30 minutes. Build a seven-day practice plan for 45 minutes a day. Do not assume any other test requirements.”

2. Generate numerical reasoning questions with worked solutions

Ask for original questions on percentages, ratios, averages and interpreting tables. Use naira amounts for familiar examples, but practise the underlying maths rather than banking terminology alone.

Prompt: “Create five original multiple-choice numerical reasoning questions using sales tables and naira amounts. Include percentage changes, ratios and averages. Make each question have exactly one correct option. Show the questions first and wait for my answers before explaining the solutions.”

For example, if deposits rise from ₦240,000 to ₦300,000, the percentage increase is (₦60,000 ÷ ₦240,000) × 100 = 25%. Check generated solutions with your own calculations or a calculator during review, even if calculators are not allowed in the real test.

  • • Start with untimed questions so you can learn the method.
  • • Ask ChatGPT to explain any step you cannot reproduce yourself.
  • • Reject or correct questions with missing information, contradictory figures or more than one valid answer.

3. Practise verbal and logical reasoning separately

For verbal reasoning, practise drawing conclusions only from the supplied passage. Your outside knowledge should not determine whether a statement is true, false or impossible to judge from the text.

Prompt: “Write a 150-word passage about workplace operations, followed by five true, false or cannot say questions. Do not show the answers until I respond. When marking, identify the exact sentence that supports each answer.”

For logical reasoning, ask for ordering problems or number sequences with explanations. Short sequences can support several patterns, so ask whether another answer could also fit. For diagram-based tests, use official visual samples where available rather than relying only on ChatGPT’s text descriptions.

  • • Practise one question type at a time before mixing subjects.
  • • Ask for explanations of why the wrong options are wrong.
  • • Treat ambiguous questions as flawed practice material, not proof that you lack ability.

4. Run timed drills and keep an error log

Use your phone’s timer or a clock for timing; do not rely on ChatGPT to enforce a precise countdown. Match the drill to your confirmed assessment format and submit your answers together when time is up.

Prompt: “Give me a 12-question mixed practice set: six numerical and six verbal reasoning questions. Hide the answers. After I submit my responses, mark them, explain mistakes and suggest three topics to revise.”

Keep an error log in a notebook or spreadsheet. Record the question type, your answer, the checked answer and why you missed it. This helps you distinguish weak topic knowledge from rushed reading or slow calculations.

  • • If your test has 40 questions in 30 minutes, your average allowance is 45 seconds per question.
  • • Practise skipping difficult questions only if the assessment allows you to return to them.
  • • Ask for new questions targeting your repeated mistakes rather than repeatedly answering the same set.

5. Use AI for preparation, not unauthorised help

ChatGPT cannot guarantee access to your bank’s current question bank. Treat claims about “confirmed” or “leaked” questions cautiously and request original practice material instead.

During the actual assessment, follow the provider’s rules. Do not paste live questions into ChatGPT or use AI assistance unless it is explicitly permitted.

Before test day, check the required device, browser, internet connection and power arrangements. If you plan to use mobile data or a backup connection, confirm that the setup meets the assessment provider’s requirements.

Frequently asked questions

Can you use free ChatGPT to prepare for a bank aptitude test? You can use free access for text-based practice questions, explanations and revision plans, subject to the limits available on your account. You do not need a paid plan to start; save useful exercises in a document for offline revision.

Can ChatGPT give you actual Nigerian bank aptitude test questions? You should not treat its output as an authenticated bank question bank. Ask for original questions in the relevant format and use official sample materials to understand what your assessment may involve.

How can you check whether ChatGPT’s practice answers are correct? Recalculate numerical answers independently and compare verbal answers with the exact wording of the passage. If a solution remains unclear, check a trusted learning resource or ask a tutor; asking ChatGPT to repeat its answer is not independent verification.
